  1. I have heard that some breads contain 'mono/diglycerides', is it okay to eat these breads even if they dont specify whether it is vegetable - mono/diglyceride or non-plant.

    Please clarify,

    JazakAllahu Khairan,

  2. The new wonder bread plus with Omega 3 has gelatin as one of the ingrediants listed.

  3. I called wonder bread, they told me only "womder plus deadstart" has animal fat on it,so this one not halal

  4. Some of the products of D'Italiano and Country Harvest have "tartaric acid esters of mono and diglycerides" in them. Is it okay to eat them?

  5. Called Weston Bakeries today for CountryHarvest bread. Toll free number is 1-800-661-7246 which is not listed on the products, I don't know why.

According to customer service, all CountryHarvest breads and bagels are animal by-products free. They may contain eggs and milk but no fat or gelatin or mono-di glcerides from animal. Even diacetly tartaric acid esters of mono and diglcerides are from vegitables. Good to know we can eat Weston breads and bagels.

  6. Jazak allah for your information br Omer..

  7. Hi, I emailed Best Value And they said all of their breads are made of veg mono and diglycrides. So I think their breads also hala. You can find their breads on Giant Tiger.

  8. I have been seeing l-cysteine listed in a lot of breads and grain products. How do I find out the source of this ingredient? I've heard it can be plant derived but mostly it comes from duck feathers, pig bristles, cow hair or human hair :(
